It’s been quite a while since the Danish team SoA has been feared, but after tonight’s match, things might have changed.
After a 2 – 0 win against MYM, SoA surprised the entire gaming scene. We caught up with ArcadioN to get his impression of the match.

Watch a young ArcadioN playing around with a desert eagle. You have just managed to beat MYM, the former PGS if anyone should have been sleeping during Christmas, did you expect this before entering the match?
I wouldn't say that I expected it as they were the favorites, but I always go in to a match believing that it's possible to win. Expected: No, Possible: Yes.
How did you prepare the team for this match?Did you approach it in anyway else than you normally do?
No not really. After new-years we had a less successful boot camp for 4 days and that was it. We always attempt to go in to a match well prepared and this game wasn't any different. Just some individual warm-up and some tactical discussions - nothing fancy. And NO practice as we don't want a bad pregame to mess up our mood.
Could you walk me through the match as you experienced it?
We started out by winning knife on train, and decided to start CT of course. We take home the gun round and everybody was playing really strong, securing as 12-3 lead. As T we won the gun round and then it was all about closing the game, but LoordB did his best to stop that from happening. Anyways, it didn't take long, and the map ended 16-7.On Nuke we won the knife-round again (zitic is such a bigass gangster, and anizz is black, so no problem) and manage to take home the gun round once more. I don’t know what to say about our CT side on nuke, it was fucking impressive what the guys pulled off, securing us a 13-2 lead. Our T side started badly, we lose the gun round and 3rd round to. Then in 5th round we are in a 3v3, then suddenly zitic's net crashes and Friis dies as well, but trace take home a very important 1v3. We waited for a long time, but zitic's net didn't come back so our manager Twaizz joined as 5th. The next round I crash as well, but joker Twaizz won a nice 1on2 and now we only needed one more round. My net didn’t come back up, so they guys ended the match playing 3½ vs. 5, and twaizz takes home our last round in a 1on1 vs. Neo. He was so proud. Anyways, 16-8 and game over.
A stereotyped phrase. How did it feel to beat perhaps the best team in the world or at least in the top 3?
It felt good of course, but I won’t start crying before it happens on LAN. Let’s face it, internet matches are a little random, and ping difference etc. is an irritating factor, especially for middle/eastern-European countries. But I was really pleased with the way we won this match, everyone was really sharp and focused, and just the fact that we ended up winning with our manager as the dominant factor just shows that. What's the most important thing you can take with you from this match?
First of all the points which was very important to us. Secondly it gives us a great deal of motivation and some belief that the things we are doing is working. It also sends out a great signal to our entire organisation, in particular the sponsors who can always use some publicity.Perhaps an unpleasant subject for a gamer like you, but some people is indicating that your online skills are superior to your LAN skills. What’s your comment on this?
They can just look at our demos from BIT #5 and Dreamhack where I played really well as well. But honestly I just take it as compliments.A few days ago you lost to the Danish team Ideal Gaming, today you bet MYM. Now what’s that all about?
I guess it's mostly about the preparations. Like I said earlier we were sitting boot camp, but the first two days wasn't very successful and we simply weren’t prepared for the game. Not only as a team, but also individually, and that's just not good enough when you are going to play a good team like Ideal. But we still have a young team and we try to learn from our mistakes, so hopefully that won’t happen again. How do you define a successful boot camp and what went wrong in yours?
A successful boot camp is where your primary focus is on counter-strike all of the time, and where you go home with feeling that you've evolved as a team, and we didn’t manage to do that this time. The first day there were some issues with the setup, and it was really hard to find good practice as well. 2nd day I had to go on a trip with our managers and we ended up being really delayed = not that much practice either.
These things can be irritating and when people are irritated they don’t play up to their best. What are the short term goals for SoA?
And the long term?
Qualification to the LAN-part of the Extreme-Masters and to the LAN-part of EPS season #1 as well.
Though question. Back to stability i guess. I have no doubt that wecan go very far with this lineup, as long as nothing goes wrong. Iguess our long-term goal is to establish our self in the top10-15 inEurope, even though it's going to be really, really hard. I'd ratheraim too high and fail, than aim too low and waste my time.mTw is without question the best team in Denmark, or do you have another point of view?
No doubt. They are a world-class team, and have won everything in Denmark the last few years, but like I said before BIT #5, the gap is closing and I think the top of Danish counter-strike will be closer in few months time, at least if there's stability and teams don’t fall apart.Stability you say? That hasn’t really been the trademark of SoA for the last couple of years. You think you made the perfect starting 5 this time?
A personal question from me to you. Do you use HLTV.org yourself?
I'll let time answer that question.
Yes, of course. I use HLTV.org when I'm downloading demos, and I also enjoy reading the comments people write about the different matches – some of them can be pretty funny.
